IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's water polo team improved to 2-0 at home after dispatching the Ottawa Spirit 17-6 on Friday afternoon.
The Eagles (3-4, 0-0 GCC) were led on offense by
Natalia Stanard who collected five goals, an assist and two steals. Four of those came in the first half as CUI built a commanding 9-1 lead by halftime.
Madison Ravelo also scored three times in the first half with two coming on penalty shots and finished with five points.
Senior
Mauriama Moore tallied a season-high three goals as did
Tamsyn Evezard who tied her season-high as well.
Ta'iuta Uiagalelei cashed in for her fifth goal of the season in the fourth period. El Toro High School product
Allie Gaetano earned her first career goal as an Eagle in the second half as well.
Goalies
Tatiana Cava and
Kiara Espeleta combined to make seven saves and keep the Spirit at bay.
CUI is back in action with two games at the Convergence Tournament on Friday, March 4 at Las Flores Park Pool.
