IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's water polo team went back in the pool on Saturday to play UC Irvine after defeating Biola Friday. UC Irvine won the game by a final score of 23-5.
Madison Ravelo and
Kim Reidel both threw the ball in the cage in the first quarter to score the first goals for the Eagles before going into the half. Junior
Nicole Tormey led the Eagles with two goals in the third to double the score.
Whitney Lee scored her first goal of the season while making that the last goal for the Eagles before the game finished.
Tamsyn Evezard had two assists while Reidel and
Natalia Stanard each had one a-piece.
Kylie Van Leeuwen and goalie
Kiara Espeleta both had a steal from the Anteaters. Espeleta had eight saves for the Eagles during her time between the posts. Four different Eagles had two shots on goal with Ravelo shooting for three throughout the game.
The Eagles are now 1-3 on the season and will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m. as we host Cal Lutheran. This game will be the home opener for the Eagles at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. CUI will be back on the road as they compete in a non-conference game against APU on Satuday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m.
