IRVINE, Calif. - The Eagles were on the brink of pulling a huge upset at home on Wednesday afternoon against a Top 20 opponent in the Princeton Tigers.
Starting goalie
Tatiana Cava was sensational blocking multiple shots at point-blank range and collecting a total of 11 saves.
CUI leading scorer
Madison Ravelo also did tons of damage with five goals. Meanwhile,
Emily Tucker found the back of the net on three occasions and
Tamsyn Evezard added two scores.
Whitney Lee and
Kim Reidel each chipped in with one goal apiece.
The Eagles pounced early and opened up a 9-3 advantage by halftime. This included an amazing stretch where Concordia scored eight unanswered goals to take a commanding 8-1 lead.
The Tigers came roaring back in the third period however and outscored the home team by a count of 6-2 during that quarter to get back into the contest.
It was 11-9 Concordia at the start of the fourth but the Tigers had gained all the momentum. Despite a valiant effort, the Eagles ultimately ran out of time at the end and the Tigers escaped with a 15-12 win.
