IRVINE, Calif. - Owen Chun and Max McCullough proved they were key components of the Concordia offense and defense this year.

That duo also proved it is among the best in the entire Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).

The league announced its All-Conference teams on Tuesday and Chun was named Honorable Mention. Chun raised his level of play in the middle of conference play and rose to the occasion in back-to-back home games against nationally-ranked Grand Canyon University.  In a 3-0 home win over GCU, Chun placed what was then a career-high 24 kills and hit an outstanding .537 that night.  He then set another career-high with 28 kills in the rematch with the 'Lopes. Those performances helped Chun be named the MPSF Offensive Player of the Week.

Chun was one of six seniors honored before CUI's final regular season game of the year against No. 6 UC Santa Barbara. He was also the subject of a weekly feature by sportswriter Billy Hull in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser last week (CLICK HERE for that story)

McCullough made the All-Freshmen Team and has proven to be a menace with his height and skill as a defender at the net. He also has worked on his timing to smash some fine lines to help boost the CUI offense in his first season wearing the Green and Gold.  McCullough hit .320 this regular season and led the Eagles in solo blocks. He also ranked second on the squad in total blocks with 57.

Concordia is the No. 7 seed at the upcoming MPSF Tournament and will face the designated home team and No. 2 seeded USC Trojans on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals.  If Concordia can advance past the Trojans the Eagles would then face top-seeded UCLA who is the tournament host all week this year.
