Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's water polo team kicked off the GCC Championships playing against No. 16 Pacific. These two teams just played each other earlier in April and the Eagles came close in that match-up and were looking for a rematch. Pacific finished the game outscoring the CUI in the four quarters with a score 14-8.
Nicole Tormey started the game out winning the sprint and allowed CUI to start with the first possession. This marks Tormey's 55
th sprint win on the season in the GCC.
Kim Reidel and
Madison Ravelo scored three goals for the Eagles in the first quarter while the Tigers were able to get four through. Ravelo scored one in the second from Ravelo with the set-up from
Allie Gaetano. The score remained in favor of Pacific with a four point lead.
Ravelo scored the first goal in the third on the five-meter attempt while a shot from
Mauriama Moore reached the back of the net on a power play.
Tamsyn Evezard beat the goalie and put it between the posts with a strategic pass from
Emily Tucker. Ravelo shot the last goal for the Eagles on a power play with about three and a half minutes left. Pacific held off CUI until the end of the fourth finishing with a final score 14-8.

Tatiana Cava was between the posts for 32 minutes and had four saves along the way to improve to a save percentage of .488.
The Eagles will be back in the pool as they play for seventh place against the host team CBU on Saturday, Apr. 23 at 10 a.m.
