Box Score 2 CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Concordia Golden Eagles men's water polo team played two hard-fought games Saturday in the Inland Empire Classic.
In both games, the Golden Eagles scored double-digit goals. However, they unfortunately lost the first game 13-10 to Pomona-Pitzer and the second game was a similar outcome.
Senior
Jeff Runyan reached an impressive milestone this weekend as he net career goal No. 100 of his career. Runyan entered Saturday with 98 career goals for Concordia and hit the century mark with his second score of the day against Pomona-Pitzer in the team's first game of the tournament.Â
Harry Nixon also scored twice in this contest.
In the Claremont-Mudd Scripps match, Runyan scored four more times to bring his career total to 104 goals. Fellow teammate
Callin Chimilar found the back of the net twice as well to pace the offense..Â
CUI trailed 10-1, but completely changed the game in the second half when they rallied for nine goals and outscored their opponent by five. CMS hung on to escape 14-10.
Harry Bentham has aided the attack as well this week by stepping up and cashing in four goals in his last three games. Three of those came on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles have two more games on Sunday in this tournament facing off against the host team in Redlands in the morning and then Occidental College in the afternoon.
The first home game for CUI is Friday Sep. 16 against UC San Diego.Â
