IRVINE, Calif. – After winning two non-conference matches in very different ways, the Concordia University Irvine women's soccer squad was named PacWest Team of the Week for the second time this season.
CUI locked down a statement victory on the road over No. 6 Point Loma by a final result of 2-1 before shutting out Biola 5-0 at home. CUI is also receiving votes in the latest Top 25 US Coaches NCAA DII National Poll
The Golden Eagles defeated the nationally-ranked Sea Lions for the first time in the NCAA DII era and freshman
Hailey Havican tallied the game-winning goal after Briana Guerra had net the equalizer earlier in the second half. Â It was
the first win for CUI women's soccer over Point Loma since 2015 – when the school was still in the process of officially transitioning from NAIA to the NCAA DII level.

Riley Walkington scored two goals and added an assist on a
Courtney Wiedeman goal while newcomer
Daniela Filipovic added two assists.

Next up is the first official PacWest match of the season as Concordia visits Azusa Pacific on Friday. That kicks off a three-game stretch of road contests.
CUI will then host five consecutive matches in conference play beginning with a rematch with Biola on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m.
