IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball team went on their first road game of the season that was just down the street against No. 7 UC Irvine. The Anteaters won in three with final scores of 21-25, 18-25, and 16-25.
Gil Herold was unstoppable at the net as he led the Golden Eagles with 9 kills while hitting .400 against the Anteaters.
Mason Mullins went three-for-three with no errors and had two block assists.
Maxwell McCullough collected two block assists and one ace for CUI.
Outside hitters
Slater Fuhrman had 6 kills while
Johnny Anselmo added five and had a combined eight digs between the duo.
Uriel Batista contributed with five kills and a couple digs.
Nathan Biteau had a team high of five digs while setting up 27 assists.
Jacob Reilly played in the libero position and had three digs to add defensively.
CUI was able to keep within distance with UCI but the Anteaters did not allow them to go on any runs that would give them an edge.
The Golden Eagles are looking for a rematch against UC Irvine on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. as they are back in the CU Arena.
