IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team move to 4-4 in PacWest and 8-8 overall after defeating Academy of Art Friday. CUI won in four with scores 26-24, 17-25, 25-11, and 25-18.
Middles
Halli Hooks and
Caitlin Jarrell had a dominant presence on the court as they hit for a combined 11 kills. Hooks hit an impressive .571 with two solo blocks while Jarrell was at .357 with a solo block and two block assists.
Senior
Kirra Schulz led the Golden Eagles with 17 kills and had 11 digs while posting her eighth consecutive double-double game.
Kennedy Farley added nine kills while led the back row for the Green and Gold with 12 digs and three aces from the service line. Freshman
Kayden Croy came into the game and made an immediate impact putting up five kills and serving up two aces.
Ola Magiera and
Danielle McCasland had a combined seven kills with McCasland adding a solo block.
Kawehi Chang and
Alyson Fullbright had 20 assists each and tallied eight and seven digs respectively.
Julia Wilson and
Delaney Risse split libero duties and recorded five and 11 digs.
After falling to Academy of Art in the second set CUI jumped out with a commanding 10-3 lead with Croy going on a five point run. The Golden Eagles never allowed the Urban Knights back into the match and finished with a dominating 25-11 win. The fourth set was no different for the Green and Gold as Chang went on a run to help extend their lead by 4 points and keeping their lead until the match was ended by a kill from Schulz.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the CU Arena Saturday Oct. 14 as they take on Dominican at 2 p.m.
