IRVINE, Calif. – After coming off a victory with a sweep versus Hawai'i Pacific last week the CUI women's volleyball team continued that momentum into their game on Monday against Hawai'i Hilo with their second consecutive sweep. CUI won in three sets with scores 25-22, 25-20, and 25-23.
Danielle McCasland and
Kennedy Farley both had a solid performance as they each had 10 kills along with an ace a-piece. McCasland added seven digs from the back and Farley with five. Outside hitter
Kirra Schulz led CUI with 11 kills and two aces throughout the match while digging up five.
Alex Parisian started on the right side and put down six kills.
Middle
Caitlin Jarrell had a stand-out performance from the middle as she had nine kills with a .583 hitting percentage. Jarrell and
Mattie Prior was a force at the net as Jarrell had four blocks and Prior had her debut in the middle with three solo blocks.
Julia Wilson came into the back row for the Green and Gold and added four digs and five assists while
Delaney Risse had nine digs.
Kawehi Chang had 12 assists with four digs while
Alyson Fullbright had 24 assists and seven digs.
The Vulcans had a 23-18 lead over the Golden Eagles in the third set but McCasland went to the back line and served up a seven point run to finish the game with a 25-23 win and another sweep with help from Schulz and Jarrell earning kills.
The Golden Eagles move to 12-10 on the season and 8-6 in PacWest play. CUI will be back in action in the CU Arena as they take on Fresno Pacific on Thursday Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
