Efficient From the Field on the Road

SEATTLE, Wash. - CUI saw themselves on the road in their first game at the GNAC/ PacWest Challenge against Western Washington University Vikings.

The Golden Eagles and the Vikings, early in the first half, both needed to get into an offensive rhythm. The only question is, who was going to get it started first? That's when the Golden Eagles swooped in and went on a quick 7-0 run with 11 more to go in the first half.

That run was made possible with great assertive play from Tim Adetukasi and a three-point shot from Kobe Sanders. The Golden Eagles built more off that run, eventually going up by 16 points! The Vikings picked their offense up to go on a 9-0 run and cut the lead to only seven points.

The Golden Eagles had a fast answer to the Viking's run, with Connor Gleason putting up floaters, turnaround jump shots, and three point knockdowns to have CUI on top at the half, 28-39.

Picking up right where he left off in the first half, Connor Gleason came out firing and making back-to-back threes to start the second half, shooting a perfect 7-7 from the field. The Golden Eagles had an answer for every run the Vikings went on. Jackson Tucker followed in Gleason's footsteps, hitting two threes to combat another 7-0 from the Vikings with 15 left to go in the second half. From this point on, the Golden Eagles never looked back, as the lead did not dip below more than five points for the rest of the game! CUI took the first GNAC/ PacWest Challenge game over the Vikings with a score of 92-86 shooting an impressive 56.6% from the field as a team.

Golden Eagles key players of the game were Connor Gleason, to lead the team in scoring with 23 points, shooting 3/3 from three-point land, and shot an impressive 88.9% from the field; Jackson Tucker with 19 points and grabbing three rebounds; Tim Adetukasi scoring 19 points, grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out four assists while shooting a perfect 8/8 on free throws; and to round out the players Kobe Sanders scored 18 points, finding four Golden Eagles, and grabbing three boards.
