CARSON, Calif. - The Golden Eagles were awarded the PacWest Team of the Week Award after going 2-0 up north in Seattle and returned down after that trip to play Cal State University Dominguez Hills Toros on Wednesday night.
After having great success at SPU, the Golden Eagles were looking to ride that momentum facing the Toros, who are also riding a bit of early season success with a two-game win streak. The two teams were battling each other, trading bucket for bucket the entire first half of play. Even though both teams were trading on offense, the Golden Eagles edged out the Toros to close out the first half with a layup by
Jackson Tucker, assisted by
Kobe Sanders, to make it 31-28 at the half.
Going back into the action in the second half, the Golden Eagles swooped right into their style of play by stealing the ball multiple times, leading to fastbreak opportunities early on. The Toros responded back to CUI's aggressiveness with a game-changing run going on a 17-5 point run in the middle of the second half. CUI fought till the last minute of the game but ended up coming short, with the Toros besting the Golden Eagles with a final score of 71-56.
Some notable key players for the Golden Eagles include
Tim Adetukasi, who scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds;
Jackson Tucker, who scored 12 points, three rebounds, and had an impressive five steals on the game; and
