Back to Back Wins For CUI Men's Soccer

HONOLULU, Hawai'i. - Wrapping up their Hawaii trip, the Golden Eagles played in fine form with a strong finish against the Hawaii Pacific University Sharks.

Coming off Thursday's road win over Chaminade where CUI had scored four times, CUI found itself in an offensive groove once again.  An early corner kick against HPU was awarded to the Golden Eagles and Anthony Morales capitalized by scoring off of a rebound, making the game 1-0 in the 18th minute. This is Morales' third goal in the last two games!

Behind every great offense is an even better defense, and leading the pack for the Golden Eagles was goalkeeper Andre Flores. Flores didn't allow one score the entire first half while collecting five Shark shots toward the CUI's net. The only goal for the Sharks came all the way in the 72nd minute of play, barely squeezing by the Golden Eagles defense to make it a tie score at one apiece.

While it looked like the game would end in a tie score, CUI had other plans. Tyler Oakson was surrounded by three Sharks late in the contest and managed to dribble his way out of the defenders. He found a sprinting Kevin Sanchez down the field, who juked the goalie for a game-winning Golden Eagles score in the 85th minute, making it 2-1. This game-winning goal by Sanchez also marked his third goal of the Hawaii trip! The SAAC rep joined Morales with a strong showing on back-to-back outings.

After wrapping up a successful road trip by going 2-1 against the three Hawaii teams, the Golden Eagles look to play their last regular season game on the road against Westmont University on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11:30 a.m.
