Box Score 4 SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's water polo team traveled south to San Diego for the annual UCSD Triton Invitational. During this three day tournament, CUI competed against #2 USC, #16 UCSB, CSUN, and LMU.
CUI 3, #2 USC 23
In the first game of the tournament, the Golden Eagles faced #2 USC.
Josie Miller,
Madison Ravelo, and
Nicole Tormey found the back of the net in the second, third, and fourth quarter. Ravelo also gathered an assist to one of her fellow teammates.
CUI 3, #16 UCSB 14
On the second day of the tournament, the first game brought a single goal from fifth year
Madison Ravelo in the last minute of the first quarter. Senior Jose Miller scored one at the end of the first quarter and in the fourth quarter.
CUI 10, CSUN 11
The Golden Eagles were able to rally up some goals later on in their second game of the second day of the tournament against Cal State University Northridge in a close game.
Allie Gaetano, Jose Miller,
Ta'iuta Uiagalelai, and
Nicole Tormey added a tally to the score.
Emily Tucker scores two more for CUI and Ravelo finds the back of the net four times.
CUI 9, LMU 15
On the last day of the tournament for CUI,
Allyson Corbett started the team off with a goal in the first two minutes of the game. A few minutes later Ravelo puts one away. With just four seconds left in the first quarter,
Emily Tucker sneaks one in to make it tied 3-3. Next up in the second, Gaetano and Ravelo link up in back to back goals putting CUI just one point behind the Lions at 5-6. Ravelo earns two more in the third quarter. To end the game, Tucker and Gaetano put two up on the board.
The womens water polo team plays next at Cal State Northridge in Thousand Oaks Saturday Feb. 11 at 11 a.m.
