IRVINE, Calif. – Freshman
Jacob Reilly has earned MPSF Defensive Player of the Week after snapping No. 12 Loyola Chicago's seven-match winning streak and unbeaten season in four sets.
Reilly collected a career-high of 19 digs during the match against Loyola Chicago and tied the season-high in MPSF conference. The Cypress, Tex. native was all over the court scooping up balls to keep the point alive and result the Green and Gold's favor. The 19 digs rank in the top-five in a single match game in school history at CUI.
The true freshman has played in six of the seven games this season and has recorded 42 digs while earning 1.75 digs per set making his mark fifth in MPSF digs. Reilly has recorded double-digit marks twice now with his first against Menlo on Jan. 19 with 10 digs.
Libero Reilly is a key contributor in the back row to CUI which the team leads MPSF with 231 digs and 9.63 digs per set.
The Golden Eagles will host Benedictine Mesa and The Master's in back-to-back nights starting Thursday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 10 with both 7 p.m. start times.
