CUI baseball traveled to CSU Dominguez Hills Thursday afternoon and put up eight runs on the scoreboard. This victory gives the Green and Gold their second win of the young season.
Graduate student
Nick Hansen got the game started per usual going deep in the first inning giving the Golden Eagles the early 3-0 lead. The GCU transfer ended the day with three hits. This is the third time this season Hansen has gone yard in the first inning.
Junior
Riley O'Sullivan received the nod on the mound for CUI, and three runs were plenty of run support for him. The San Diego native went the distance pitching nine innings, striking out six batters while only allowing one run to earn his first win of the season.
Leadoff hitter
Michael Dixon was a menace for the Toros all game as he went 5 for 5 with one RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base. The Golden Eagles as a team were aggressive on the base paths swiping three bases.
Freshman
Owen Gott received the start behind the dish and collected a season-high two hits with a double. Fellow freshman's
Jordan Bolden and
Landry Spitler also added their first doubles of the season.
The Golden Eagles are back on the diamond tomorrow at CSUDH. They return home Saturday Feb. 11 for a double-header starting at 2 p.m.
