CUI Falls Short In SDSU Showdown

IRVINE, Calif.- The SDSU Aztecs, an opponent ranked No. 22, was the team that the Golden Eagles faced in a stunning game at home on Friday afternoon. 
 
The game went into two overtime quarters which made for an exciting game. The two teams were neck and neck majority of the game with both sides trading goals throughout the exciting six quarters. The close matchup ended in a win for the Aztecs with a score of 11-10.
 
Starting off strong, Nicole Tormey won four out of the six swim sprint offs at the beginning of the quarters to retrieve an early advantage for CUI. She also collected three goals. Andie Perreira had two amazing goals, both with defense on all sides of her. Behind her Madison Ravelo added two more to the scoreboard. One of those goals which she managed to grab the ball before the goalie could and tipped it over the opponents head where the ball floated perfectly past the goal line before the goalie could get to it. Ravelo and Tamsyn Evezard both had two goals and two assists. Emily Tucker and Whitney Lee also earned one assist each.
Tatiana Cava played all 38 minutes in the net and collected 13 impressive saves and two steals for CUI.
 
Catch the Golden Eagles playing a double header on Saturday, March 25 as they travel to Claremont to play against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 10:00 am and against Brown at 1:00 pm.
