The Green and Gold wrapped up their four-game series with Academy of Art Saturday afternoon. Just like in Friday's matchup, the Golden Eagles went 1-1 in the doubleheader. They dropped the last game 8-1, pushing their record to .500 and giving them a 8-7 conference record.
In game one, the Golden Eagles didn't get started until late. Junior pitcher
Riley O'Sullivan got the nod on the mound and went six innings while striking out seven batters.
Finding themselves down 4-0 late in the seventh inning, the Golden Eagles decided to call upon the long ball. Sophomore
Vito Fowler turned on a fastball and sent one over the fence hitting the scoreboard to cut the Urban Knights lead in half.
Then, in the bottom of the eighth inning Art U decided to intentionally walk freshman
Jordan Bolden to face redshirt junior
Nathan Benefeito. Bad decision. Benefeito welcomed the challenge and sent a moonshot over the left field fence to give the Golden Eagles a 6-4 lead.
Seniors
Colton Bulger and
Jorge Arellano each faced one batter in the top of the ninth and did their job. Graduate student
Jake McBride came in for the save and closed the door on the Urban Knights.
