IRVINE, Calif. - The surprise teams in Surprise, Arizona this week could very well be both CUI tennis squads.
Both Concordia University Irvine tennis teams will play Thursday, April 20 in the quarterfinals for the PacWest Conference Championships and both earned a Top 4 seed after exceeding expectations this regular season.
The CUI women earned a No. 3 seed after posting an impressive 15-2 record that included a program-best nine-game winning streak.Â
The 15 victories are also tied for the most wins in on season in the NCAA DII era. The Golden Eagles will look to best that mark Thursday at 9:00 a.m. when they play the winner of Wednesday's first round match between No. 6 seed Dominican and No. 11 seed Cal State Los Angeles.

The CUI men are the No. 4 seed in the eight-team bracket and will play Biola for the third time this spring.Â
Freshmen
Julius Seifert and
Alex Edmonston as well as senior
Adam Large have been impressive in the past two games with Biola. The Golden Eagles won both of the previous two meetings by narrow 4-3 margins, so the doubles point will be crucial as will how each individual plays in their respective singles matches. Â
