Dazzling On The Diamond: Entrup & O'Sullivan Both Named All-Americans - Twice!

Both CUI PItchers Honored Among Best In The Country

IRVINE, Calif. - It's hard to win and it's hard to compare success on the diamond when you start to look at all the talented pitchers throughout the NCAA DII level in both softball and baseball.

But there is no debate - two of the best pitchers in the West Region are Concordia Golden Eagles.

Katlin Entrup of the CUI softball team and Riley O'Sullivan of CUI baseball each have been named All-Americans while also earning multiple honors at both the national and regional level.

Entrup was named a Second Team All-American by the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) and also earned honorable mention on the D2CCA All-American list.

She went 17-5 this past season with a 1.13 ERA and three saves in 136.0 innings. Plus, with 123 strikeouts and only 41 walks, she compiled a fantastic 3-to-1 K/BB ratio. In her second season in Irvine, she led Concordia in many pitching categories including wins, innings pitched, strikeouts, complete games (8) and shutouts (5).

The Claremont, Calif. native was also the PacWest Conference Pitcher of the Year and also D2CCA All-Region Pitcher of the Year.  This after being named the PacWest Newcomer of the Year the season before.  Her 2023 teammate Daniela Alvarez was named PacWest Newcomer of the Year this May and also was a D2CCA Second Team All-Region pick.  Meanwhile, CUI third baseman Jocelyn Pino was a First Team All-Region selection by both the NFCA and D2CCA while outfielder Megan Massa was a NFCA Second Team All-Region selection.

Entrup and Alvarez both finished the season ranked in the Top 10 in all of DII in ERA as well.

O'Sullivan was named a D2CCA Second Team All-American and a Third Team All-American by the NCBWA (National College Baseball Writers Association).  He boasts a similar eye-popping resume on the mound.

The right-hander was the ace of the CUI pitching staff with a 7-1 record while sporting a paltry 1.42 ERA to go with a whopping six complete games. Those six complete games were both the best marks in the entire PacWest Conference & West Region among starters.

His remarkable 7-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio was absurd (58 strikeouts and only eight walks!) over his 82.1 innings and he also was named First Team All-PacWest.  Four of his six complete games were over nine innings - including a win over playoff-bound Azusa Pacific.

The Poway, Calif. product was recently named a unanimous First Team All-Region selection by the NCBWA.  O'Sullivan was also tabbed as First Team All-Region by the D2CCA and ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association), meaning he was honored three times as one of the best pitchers in the entire region.

O'Sullivan's teammate and junior outfielder Michael Dixon was also named Second Team All-Region by the NCBWA.  Pitcher Brett Finnel and center fielder Michael Dixon made Third Team All-PacWest after stellar seasons as well.
