Irvine, Calif.- CUI women's volleyball opened PacWest play with a win against the newest member of the PacWest, the Westmont Warriors. The Green and Gold were able to defend the nest with a valiant team effort through five sets.

The Golden Eagles offensive superiority in the match against the Warriors was undeniable, having 12 more kills than their opponents. CUI's 68 combined team kills, was a major key in the conference opener.

Senior outside hitter,
Kirra Schulz continues to perform for her team with an astounding 23 kills at .333 in Saturday's match. A season-high for the senior outside hitter, as she continues to add to her list of double doubles with her sixth one of the season. Junior
Kennedy Farley added 15 kills at .387 for CUI and
Cassie Prior, sophomore, had 13 kills at .303. Freshman outside
Kayden Croy, also added to the kill count with seven kills for her own career-high of the night. Assisted by
Kawehi Chang and
Alyson Fullbright the two setters tallied up 57 assists for the Golden Eagles. Chang had a career-high in the match with 35 assists.

Defense was also a factor against the Warriors, as CUI was able to stay strong at the net.
Halli Hooks and
Caitlin Jarrell both had 6 blocks. While
Cassie Prior added 4 blocks herself. Tonight, the Golden Eagles collectively had 21 blocks.
Delaney Risse led the team with 18 digs, with the help of Schulz at 14.
