Four Set Takedown Against No. 12 Chaminade

Honolulu, Hawai'i - On the final day in Hawai'i, the Concordia University women's volleyball team leapt into the 6 p.m. (PST) match against No. 12 Chaminade. After the win against Hawai'i Pacific the night before, the Golden Eagles went into the match with a conference record of 2-1. By the end of the four-set match, CUI defeated the No. 12 Silverswords and came out on top.

Junior Kennedy Farley and Kirra Schulz both led the team with 14 kills along with Caitlin Jarrell with 7. It wouldn't have been possible without Alyson Fullbright and Kawehi Chang who totaled 39 assists altogether. As a team, CUI had 10 service aces to the Silverswords' 5 aces and defense kept the ball in play with a total of 64 digs in the match.

The match was a tug-of-war. Concordia won the first two sets, but Chaminade was able to push ahead and take the third set. Entering into the fourth set, both teams were neck and neck until the halfway point when CUI took the lead. At 21-19, the Silverswords managed to bridge the gap with a few well-placed kills. Not too long after, Farley and Danielle McCasland served momentum-shifting aces to win it for the Golden Eagles.

The final scores for the match were 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, and 25-20.

CUI heads home after closing out the hard-fought Hawaii trip with a conference record of 3-1. The Golden Eagles will play at home Saturday, Sept. 30 against Point Loma at 5 p.m. After such a big win, the Green and the Gold will soar on in search for their next.
