LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team finished their four game stanza on the road against Biola on Thursday. CUI challenged Biola throughout the match forcing them to five but the Eagles secured the win with scores 25-19, 25-22, 17-25, 22-25, and 20-18.
Seniors led the Golden Eagles offensively with
Kirra Schulz finishing up with 22 kills and 15 digs.
Ola Magiera came into the game and made an immediate impact putting up 11 kills and two block assists while
Danielle McCasland added 10 kills, six digs, and two aces.
Freshman
Kayden Croy came in offensively and had seven kills with one solo block.
Daniela Poles came onto the court to play back row and served up an ace with six digs. Both middles
Caitlin Jarrell and
Halli Hooks had two kills. Jarrell put up solid blocking at the net as she had three block assists along with two solo.
Julia Wilson was in the libero jersey and dug up 23 from the back row and was one of two players with two aces where one came in the fifth set at a clutch moment for CUI.
Alyson Fullbright and
Kawehi Chang dished out 25 and 23 assists and a combined 15 digs.
The Green and Gold came out fighting in the third set as and took an 18-10 lead and shut down the Eagles offense until the end of the set. The score toggled in the fourth and CUI came out with a close win to force a fifth set. The fifth set was another close one as the score went beyond the usual 15 and Biola secured the win over Concordia.
The Golden Eagles will back in the CU Arena Saturday Sept. 30 as they take on Point Loma with a slated start time at 5 p.m.
