Parisian Places Season-High 13 Kills Against Sea Lions

Schulz & Parisian Combined for 31 Kills

IRVINE, Calif. – Alex Parisian and Kirra Schulz combined for 31 kills against first-place Point Loma on Saturday, but the Sea Lions fended off Concordia for a 3-1 victory.

The Golden Eagles forced a fourth set with a 25-20 win in the third before the visitors survived with a 25-20 victory of their own to close things out.

CUI is now 7-7 overall and 3-3 in league play while Point Loma improved to 6-0 in the PacWest Conference by skirting around any chances at a fifth set.

Parisian placed a season-high 13 kills against the Sea Lions and used her power to catch defenders off guard.  It was the most kills for the grad student in a CUI uniform and the most since she scored 14 as an undergrad at Hawai'i Hilo in September of 2021.

Schulz led CUI with 18 kills and 14 digs for remarkably her 11th double-double in 14 contests. CUI is 7-4 when she records a double-double this season.

Alyson Fullbright handed out 28 assists while contributing 11 digs. Daniela Poles also racked up 13 digs on the back line and Kawehi Chang added 19 helpers as the second setter.

Danielle McCasland led the team with two service aces to go with five kills and six digs.

Caitlin Jarrell added nine kills and hit .333 with a pair of blocks.  Freshman Kayden Croy continues to impress and chipped in with eight kills while hitting .375 as well.

The Golden Eagles have a few days before their next match.  They travel to Azusa to face the Cougars at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 before hosting Academy of Art on Friday the 13th at 7 p.m.
