FRESNO, Calif. - Riding a recent wave of success at home, the Golden Eagles headed up to face the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds.
The first quarter was underway, and CUI was very much in control of the game. The Golden Eagles went on an 8-2 run, ending the quarter leading 19-15.
Fighting back to try and gain control of the game, the Sunbirds put together some defensive momentum. At the end of the first half, the Golden Eagles and Sunbirds were dead even with each other with a score of 27-27.
The second half came into play, and both teams were battling back and forth after three-quarters of play. The Golden Eagles would make a run, and then the Sunbirds would counter CUI with a run of their own. The quarter ended with FPU edging out the Golden Eagles 43-40.
Unfortunately for CUI, that was the last time the score was within three points. The Sunbirds took the game with a final score of 65-53.
Some key players of the game for the Golden Eagles were
Stephanie Lee, who scored 13 points, shooting a perfect 5/5 from the free-throw line, adding one steal and one block.
Izzy Navarro also scored 13 points and one steal.
Teagan Thurman was a key contributor coming off the bench scoring 10 points and grabbing seven boards.
