ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team were looking to go undefeated up north but Jessup had other plans for the CUI. The Warriors went the distance with the Golden Eagles winning in five sets with scores 9-25, 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, and 15-12.
The Golden Eagles came out dominating in the first set holding the Warriors to only nine points. Jessup came back to win the next two sets but the fourth set went in favor of Concordia with help from
Ally Scheidle with a couple kills to force a fifth set.
The fifth set toggled back and forth but the Warriors closed out the match going on a five point run until they reached 15 points.
Kawehi Chang ran the offense and had 38 assists throughout the match.
Delaney Risse notched 21 digs with
Celia Dowell and
Jadyn Orava contributing with seven.
Scheidle and
Kennedy Farley led the Green and Gold with 14 kills and three digs a-piece.
Kayden Croy reached her fourth double-double finishing with 12 kills and 15 digs. Middles
Caitlin Jarrell and
Delaney Gregg had a combined seven kills with eight block assists.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the CU Arena next week as they take on Menlo College on Wednesday Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. followed by Biola on Saturday Oct. 19 with a 5 p.m. start time.
