Irvine, Calif. - On a sunny and breezy day in Southern California, the Golden Eagles put on a full team display against the visiting Chaminade University, Silverswords.
Coming off of a tough loss against a nationally ranked team, the Golden Eagles hoped to bounce back at home versus the Silverswords. Striking first, Chaminade drew lots of confusion in the box, ultimately leading to a score. With plenty of game left, the Golden Eagles kept calm and waited for their opportunity. Their next opportunity came just seven minutes after the CUH score when
Zeph Rico-Jaramillo and
Jacob Edwards had great touch passes toward's each other; they found
Miguel Arroyo, who found the back of the net. That sequence really ignited a flame within CUI's offense.
CUI had more than five different goal scorers in the matchup against the SIlverswords. Those goals came from
Miguel Arroyo,
Domenyk Jara,
Nikoa Markham,
Leo Sanchez, and
Rafa Espinoza. Not to mention the true freshman goalkeeper coming out of Mater Dei High School and making his NCAA DII start with over 80 minutes of play with only one score,
Sebastian Marin.
The Golden Eagles eventually won this competition with a score of 5-1 over the Silverswords and look forward to their next competition against Westmont on October 24th at 4:00 PM. If you want to follow more of men's soccer,
