Golden Eagles Fight Off the Vulcans

HILO, Hawai'i – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team started their road trip in Hawai'i against Hawai'i Hilo Thursday. The two teams kept it close the entire match and CUI picked up their seventh conference win with scores 25-23, 25-23, and 26-24.

The sets were so close in each set that neither team led by more than three points at any time. CUI was down a couple times late but was able to battle back and get their momentum going until the end of each set.

Kayden Croy and Caitlin Jarrell were dominant for the Green and Gold offense. Croy led with 17 kills and only one hitting error while hitting .471. The sophomore outside also topped her ace best from 2023 and had three aces on the night. Jarrell reached another double-digit night with 11 kills and three block assists.

Kennedy Farley and Ally Scheidle both had six kills each and Delaney Gregg had four out of the middle. Gregg added two solo blocks up at the net. Libero Delaney Risse was all over the court scooping up 15 digs. Celia Dowell and Jadyn Orava came into the match as a defender and had six and eight digs respectively.

The Golden Eagles will conclude their Hawai'i trip against No. 10 Chaminade on Saturday with a 6 p.m. PST (3 p.m. HT) before coming back home to play against Dominican Wednesday Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
