Azusa, Calif. - In an absolute nail-biter against the Cougars from Azusa Pacific, the CUI men's soccer team was unable to put a goal onto the board. The Azusa Pacific Cougars were also not able to score a goal, and the game ultimately ended in a tie. A hard fought game for the Golden Eagles will not go unrecognized and although the score didn't show it, the Green and Gold had a memorable performance by goalkeeper Andre Flores.
An outstanding outing by Flores solidified the tie for the Golden Eagles and kept the Cougars off of the board. Flores had four stops on the day, pushing him past a rare milestone with 200 career saves. He has been a key piece of the Golden Eagle defense throughout his career and finished the weekend with 201 career saves. He is one of just six Concordia goalkeepers on the men's side to reach that mark.Â
The momentum of the game seemed to shift back and forth between the Golden Eagles and the Cougars, and neither team could seem to keep the momentum on their side for the remainder of the game.Â
A very intense competition resulted in six total yellow cards, three belonging to the Golden Eagles and the remaining three belonging to the Cougars.Â
The Golden Eagles will travel to San Rafael this upcoming week to face the Penguins from Dominican in a Halloween match up on Thursday, October 31.Â
