Golden Eagles Take Flight at PacWest Championships

Women Take Second Place; Men Feature Four All-PacWest Runners For First Time

IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine men's and women's cross country teams delivered outstanding performances at the PacWest Championship, achieving impressive results that reflect their talent and hard work.

In a remarkable achievement, the men's team finished third overall out of 11 schools, and the women's finishing second overall out of 13 schools.

Overall, both the CUI men's and women's teams had a remarkable showing at the PacWest Championship, with four student-athletes on each squad earning All-Conference honors.

Noah Plaza led the way, finishing 7th for the men with a time of 24:13.7 to earn First Team All-PacWest honors. Fernando Aguirre made a notable impact, securing All-Conference honors for the first time in his career with an 11th place finish 24:23.1.

They were joined by teammate Colin Bervig, who secured 16th place with a time of 24:44.8 after earning Third Team All-PacWest recognition last year. Spencer Handorf also earned All-Conference recognition for the first time, finishing in 19th place with a time of 24:53.3. Dustin Berger rounded out the top five for the Eagles, placing 29th at 25:23.5. The entire top five for the CUI men finished within the top 30, showcasing their strength.

The women's team excelled as well, finishing second overall out of 13 schools. Taylor Whitfield led the way, finishing 6th overall with a time of 21:13.2, which earned her First Team All-PacWest honors. Whitfield becomes only the fourth female runner in the school's NCAA Division II history to earn this distinction.

Elizabeth King finished 13th with a time of 21:44.5, earning Second Team All-Conference honors. Porshe Eismann followed closely in 16th place with a time of 21:57.5, and Mariza Chavez was right behind her in 17th at 21:58.0, both receiving Third Team All-Conference recognition. Emily Littlefield finished 24th in 22:17.2, and Claudia Vera placed 27th in 22:30.3, contributing to a strong overall performance for the Golden Eagles.

As the season continues, both teams are preparing for the NCAA West Regional Championships that will take place on November 9th in Billings, Montana. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!!
