IRVINE, Calif. - In an exciting match today, the Concordia University men's soccer team took down Fresno Pacific 2-0 on their home turf. The team displayed impressive teamwork and determination, with standout performances on both offense and defense.
The team showcased great teamwork, particularly in the second half. The first half was a fierce battle for possession, but the Eagles found their rhythm in the second half. Tyler Oakson opened the scoring, netting the first goal of the match with a well-placed shot, assisted by Rafael Espinoza and Kevin Sanchez. This goal not only energized the home crowd but also set the tone for the remainder of the game.
Not long after, Dylan Graham sealed the win with a fantastic second goal, thanks to Miguel Arroyo's assist. The Eagles kept the pressure on, showing great attacking play throughout the match.
On the defensive front, goalkeeper Andre Flores was outstanding, making six key saves to secure the clean sheet. His performance was crucial in ensuring the team walked away with this win, showcasing his skill and determination in protecting the net.
"I was very proud of the team for responding after a tough first half, to come out of the locker room in the second half committed to each other and to continue believing in ourselves," said Coach Erik Kirsch. "A lot of the credit goes to the guys that came off the bench and sparked the team as well."
With this win, Concordia is eager to carry this drive into their next match away against Point Loma on October 12 at 11:30 AM. This victory could be just the spark they need for the remainder of the season!
