SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team secured their last road game win of the season with sweep over Westmont. Tough serving continues to be a factor in games for CUI against their opponents as service runs helped them secure the sweep over Westmont with scores 25-19, 25-20, and 25-15.
In the first set
Kawehi Chang and
Celia Dowell went on a run at the back line to help the Golden Eagles take the lead and ultimately win the set. In the second set the Warriors jumped out with an early lead but the Golden Eagles were able to slowly able to come back and cut the deficit but just a couple points.
Delaney Risse went on a six point run to help Green and Gold take the lead 23-18 and earn the comeback win. CUI shut down the offense from their opponents holding the Warriors from going on a run at any point in the set.
Kayden Croy led CUI with 16 kills and six digs with
Kennedy Farley adding seven kills up at the net.
Ally Scheidle reached nine kills and the only solo block for the Golden Eagles.
Caitlin Jarrell had seven kills out of the middle.
Chang dished out an impressive 33 assists in just three sets and dug up 11. Risse and Dowell both had another double-digit game with 13 and 16 digs.
The Golden Eagles will have their last home game of the season against Vanguard Wednesday Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. where they will honor their two seniors prior to the match.
