FRESNO, Calif. - Coming off the win against UC Merced, the Concordia men's water polo team didn't hesitate in the match up against Fresno Pacific. The Golden Eagles captured their second conference win with a four-point lead over the Sunbirds.
Concordia established it's lead early on. Harry Bentham was the first player to score a goal in the match and the rest of the offense answered in kind.
Sam Diamond was the next Golden Eagle to find the back of the net.
Bentham fought through Fresno Pacific's defense and offensively led the team with a hat trick. He also tallied two assists and two steals over the course of the match.
Stan De Mey, Thomas Kelly, and Konstantinos Koulouris stepped up and scored two goals each, which solidified the lead. Fresno Pacific struggled to make headway against Concordia, but they had a resurgence in the third period. Fresno had three goals to Concordia's one.
Strong defensive performances from Konstantinos Koulouris and Griffin Beth kept the Sunbirds from hitting double digits. Koulouris had three steals under his belt and goalie Beth repeatedly held off Fresno Pacific's attempts. He tallied seven saves overall and didn't allow a single goal in the fourth period.
The Green and the Gold secured its second conference win of the season. The Golden Eagles are on the hunt for their next win.
