LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The CUI Golden Eagles headed up north just an hour away to faceoff against the Cal State LA Golden Eagles.
Opening up the game, the Golden Eagles took an early lead two minutes into the first quarter. After that slight Golden Eagles lead, CSULA really turned up the offensive and defensive jets. Going on a significant offensive run, CUI found themselves down 30-15, heading into the second quarter.
As the game went into the second quarter, CUI's goal was to try to take the game minute by minute and not create more of a lead for the other Golden Eagles. As the first half closed, the other Golden Eagles maintained their lead with a halftime score of 42-28.
Coming out of the locker room at halftime, CUI still couldn't find a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball and couldn't handle the ball pressure CSULA was putting on the ball. Despite outscoring the other Golden Eagles by eight points in the fourth quarter, CUI's Golden Eagles final score against CSULA was 75-64.
A Golden Eagles highlight from the game was
Erika Maggard, who put up a career-high scoring a team-high 19 points on 9-16 from the field, grabbing five rebounds and assisting two Golden Eagles.
