CUI Holds Opponent To Season Low 51 Points

IRVINE, Calif. - As the Golden Eagles held their second PacWest game of the season in CU Arena, they faced off against the Point Loma Nazarene University Sea Lions.

From the start, the first quarter was a dog fight. Neither team could get a substantial lead on the other, and eventually, the Golden Eagles were only down by one point, with a score of 15-16.

CUI had opportunities while playing in the second quarter, but the ball just would not go into the hoop. Heading into the half, CUI was down with a score of 28-21.

Making halftime adjustments, the Golden Eagles stopped the Sea Lions dead in their tracks. In the third quarter, CUI allowed only nine points to be scored against them, making it a season-low in points scored against them in a single quarter.

Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles couldn't make up the slight advantage that the Sea Lions held. The final game score was 51-47 in favor of PLNU.

Izzy Navarro scored a team-high 11 points while Erika Maggard had 10 points. Maggie Teven contributed nine points and Hannah Vela knocked down a pair of treys to help the offense.
