Fresno, Calif. - The CUI women's basketball team competed in their last competition in the calendar year of 2024. In a one-game trip to Fresno, the Golden Eagles and Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific battled, but ultimately the Sunbirds were able to push ahead and take the last surge of momentum in the game. Despite the score of the game, the Green and Gold had two familiar stars who were also the second and third leading scorers of the game.
Sophomore Izzy Navarro and redshirt senior Erika Maggard led the way for the Golden Eagles with 17 points and 16 points respectively on the day and also combined for five steals. Navarro and Maggard have been a consistent powerhouse for the Green and Gold and continue to show why they have spent so much time on the court this season so far.
Another Golden Eagle with a standout performance on the court is freshman Cadence Tarrant, with nine points on the day, and also seven rebounds. Tarrant usually makes an appearance for the green and gold early in the game, and she has been an impactful addition to the team this season. Along with Tarrant, redshirt sophomore Maggie Teven has been consistent for the Golden Eagles when she is on the court, and had seven points and four rebounds in ten minutes on the court.
The CUI women's basketball team will compete next after Christmas break, and will travel to Hilo, Hawai'i to take on the Vulcans. CLICK HERE to follow along with the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
