FRESNO, Calif. - The first trip to Nothern California for PacWest play was against the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds.
The Golden Eagles are coming off two huge wins to open up the conference after dropping the conference opener and hoping to gain more momentum going against a tough Sunbirds team.
To start the game, the Golden Eagles started off hot from the offensive end, going up by 10 points early in the first half. CUI kept that cushion all the way till the end of the first half when the Sunbirds were only down by 4 points going into the locker rooms.
Coming back from the second half, the Golden Eagles came out red hot to start the second half just like the beginning of the game. Using their aggressive defense to their advantage, CUI caused three turnovers back-to-back-to-back and went up by more than 14 points. After that run, the Sunbirds started to build up offensive attacks, and by the time the Golden Eagles knew it, they were already up in the middle of the second half.
Building off of that momentum, the Sunbirds kept a five to eight-point lead through the remainder of the second half, and the Golden Eagles eventually ended up falling with a final score of 77-72.
