Golden Eagles Impress In Home Opener

Box Score IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's tennis competed against California Institute of Technology in their home opener on Saturday. The Golden Eagles came out with a 4-1 win to top the Beavers and earn their first win of the season.
 
The doubles matches started first with Max Renz and Mattis Le Montagner having a dominant match as they won 6-1. Spencer Cinco and Mario Aleksic were in the No. 1 slot and battled it out as they won by a close 7-6 and helping get the first point for the Golden Eagles.
 
In singles, Le Montagner at the No.2 slot and Aleksic in the No. 3 position each made quick work of their opponents to put CUI up 3-1 overall. Renz then won with scores 6-2 and 7-6 to clinch the victory for the Golden Eagles.
 
CUI will be on the road as they take on Saint Katherine on Wednesday Feb. 14 at 12 p.m. before coming back to a newly added game against Hawaii on Monday Feb. 19 at 9 a.m. at the CUI tennis courts.
