Middles Make an Impact in MPSF Opener

IRVINE, Calif.- The Concordia University men's volleyball team went head-to-head with the USC Trojans on Wednesday night during their first match of the MPSF conference. The Trojans were able to overcome the Golden Eagles in three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-23.
 
Middle blockers, Maxwell McCullough and Gil Herold were on fire in the match against the Trojans. McCullough added five kills to his stat sheet, hitting an exceptional .714 and Herold hitting a .667. In the third set, Clement Osahon Jr. added a service ace and a block for the Green and Gold.
 
Kills leader, Christian Galoppo, had another phenomenal night as the Golden Eagle added 13 kills at .333, two blocks, and six digs. Close behind was Ties Cornelissen who added another eight kills, making he team total kill count to 34.
 
Momentum shifted in the third set in favor of the Golden Eagles, when Makua Marumoto entered. Marumoto brought all the energy and two services aces in the third set, bringing the game to a two-point differential. Ultimately the Trojans overcame this momentum and finished the set 25-23, finishing 3-0 over CUI.
