Box Score 2 SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Finishing the last matches of the Santa Clara Tournament, the Concordia women's water polo team flipped the switch and secured two impressive wins against Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay.
With new fervor in their eyes, the Golden Eagles finished the tournament with a resounding 2-2 record and added another win in overtime to their belt.
Seizing the momentum from the prior day's close matches, CUI claimed the first win with a score of 18-11. Multiple players acquired goals for Concordia, but Sofia Dominguez, Andie Perreira, and Lily Ensley undoubtedly led the offense with three goals each.
Melinna Galbraith and Tamsyn Evezard contributed four assists each to lead the way to Concordia's victory.
Defensively, goalie Samantha Rainey was a force to reckon with for the Otters' offense and secured 10 saves for CUI.
Against Cal State East Bay, the Golden Eagles headed into their second overtime match of the season. The game was tied 5-5 in the third and then 7-7 in the fourth period. Considering how close the last overtime match against Cal Baptist went, Concordia was well prepared for the showdown.
Melinna Galbraith had four steals and two assists, while goalie Jaden Soto saved nine shots on goal.
Abby Mammen and Andie Perreira were the first to score in overtime, making it 9-7. At 2:03 in the second OT, Mammen scored the final goal of the game to capture the win 10-7.
