IRVINE, Calif. - In a rare Monday night basketball game, the Golden Eagles took on the visiting Hawaii Pacific University Sharks. After the game was played, CUI had recognized the seniors on the team for their senior night ceremony. The players that were recognized include
Savannah Felix-Amoroso,
Stephanie Lee, and
Teagan Thurman.
Jumping straight into the action, the Golden Eagles were running on all cylinders to open the game up. After one quarter of play, CUI led the Sharks with a score of 23-8. With plenty of ball still left to play, the Sharks took advantage and started to get back into the game. Despite their best attempt at trying to recapture the lead, the Golden Eagles were on top at the half with a score of 30-26.
Opening up the third quarter, HPU got within three points, but the Golden Eagles had other plans and really turned up the jets on the Sharks. After the game got within three points, CUI went on an 8-0 run to go back up by 11. Ending the third quarter, Center
Teagan Thurman hit a step back two point shot to officially get her in the 1000 point club and counting to close out her last home game of her career.
It was a battle till the end, but with
Stephanie Lee closing out the game with four straight perfect free throws, the Golden Eagles closed out their last regular season home game on top of the Sharks with a final score of 68-63.
CUI had four Golden Eagle starters in double digits tonight. Those players included
Savannah Felix-Amoroso finished with 10 points, six rebounds, two steals, and one blocked shot.
Stephanie Lee finished with 14 points, shooting 6-6 from the FT line, while dishing out two assists, and one steal.
Camryn Kiernan finished the game with 12 points, four assists, grabbing three rebounds, and denying three Sharks players.
Izzy Navarro finished the game with 10 points, three steals, two assists, and two rebounds.
Teagan Thurman with 1000 career points finished the game with nine points, four rebounds, and four steals for the CUI.
