HILO, Hawai'i – The Concordia University Irvine baseball team travelled to Hawai'i to play a four game stanza against Hawai'i Hilo to start conference play. After losing the first game of the day the Golden Eagles jumped out of gates and had a dominant performance for the second to close out the game not allowing a run.
CUI 3, UHH 6
Sophomore
Josh Pugh started on the mound for CUI and pitched six innings allowing four hits and four earned runs.
Wyatt Madison and
Ryan O'Toole came in for the remainder of the innings to close out the game and strike out a combined three batters.
The first seven of the Golden Eagles lineup had at least one hit with
Michael Dixon,
Luke Glascoe, and
Makamae Du Pont bringing in a runner.
CUI struck first to take an early 2-0 lead over the Vulcans but UHH came back to take and extend their lead in the sixth and eighth inning.

Kaipo Haole kicked things off for the Golden Eagles with an RBI single to right center to bring home
Landry Spitler.
Dixon had another two hit game which marks his fifth consecutive game with a hit. The Oakland, Calif. native hit a two RBI double to left center to add two in the second frame.
Jordan Bolden hit his first home run of the season to center field and bring home
Haku Dudoit.
Jake Covey pitched a complete game not allowing a Vulcan player to round the bases and only allowed three hits and struck out six in the seven inning game.
The Golden Eagles will finish the series against Hilo with a double header on Monday Feb. 26 with start times at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. PT.
