Golden Eagles Take Three In Hawai'i

HILO, Hawai'i – The CUI baseball team finished their series against UHH on Monday taking two wins on the day. The Golden Eagles struck first in both games keeping their momentum on their side and closing out the games for the Vulcans.  
 
CUI 10, UHH 5
 
Senior Michael Dixon continues to make an impact for the Golden Eagles as he went three-for-five and had two RBIs with a double. Wyatt Madison also added to the scoreboard as he had two hits and two RBIs with two doubles.
 
Catcher Vito Fowler had two hits which led to two more RBIs for the Green and Gold. Makamae Du Pont came into the game and in the eighth inning hit an RBI single to left center to extend their lead 10-4.
 
Riley O'Sullivan started on the bump for the Golden Eagles and went seven innings allowing eight hits with four runs and five strikeouts. Relievers Jamison King and Scott Wood came in and each pitched one inning and had one strikeout a-piece.
 
CUI 6, UHH 3   
 
Brett Finnel was the starting pitcher for the second game and went five innings only allowing two runs and four strikeouts. Kaj James and Conor Meehan both came in for one inning and was effective as they combined for three strikes. James collected his second win of the season
 
The Golden Eagles started the second game with the bases loaded in the third where Owen Gott hit a two RBI single to center field to bring home Haku Dudoit and Isaiah Walz. The Vulcans tied the score at two a-piece in the bottom of the fifth.
 
CUI bats came alive in the seventh as Dudoit came up to the plate and doubled down left field line. With a pitching change from UHH Dixon was next up at the plate and doing what he does best he hit a single to center fielder bringing a run in after Dudoit stole third to take a one point lead with no outs. Luke Glascoe reached on a fielding error by the first baseman and advanced to second on the error while bringing in Jordan Bolden and Dixon to extend their lead to 5-2. Michael Mira hit a sacrifice bunt to bring home another run for CUI and advance Glascoe to third.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back at the Golden Eagles field as they take on Biola with a double header on Friday March 8 starting at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m..
