IRVINE, Calif. - Starting out with the doubles competition, the Golden Eagles were ready to compete against the visiting team, the Hawaii Pacific University Sharks
On a beautiful day for tennis, an extremely competitive match kicked off the competition, first with
Mattis Le Montagner and
Max Renz. They were on top nearly the whole match but unfortunately did not get to complete the match due to the referee deciding the game to be unfinished. The team finished 5-4, and were nearly about to potentially help gain a point for CUI but the game ended and so did the doubles competitions.
Some of the highlights of the singles games came from players such as
Spencer Cinco and
Mattis Le Montagner who both won their matches.
Spencer Cinco was on the fourth court and made quick work of his opponent finishing second out of all of the matches and encouraging other CUI players after he won a point screaming "let's go Golden Eagles'" . Cinco won his game 6-1 and 6-2.
Mattis Le Montagner was very precise in every decision that he made. He played with excellent pace against his opponent, placing drop shots when needed and power shots to gain him a point. Ultimately Le Montagner won his match with a score of 6-4 and 6-4.
When all said and done CUI put up a tough road block but lost the competition in a final score of 4-2.
