Game Recap: Women's Water Polo | | Channa Hart

Golden Triumph Caps Convergence Tournament

ORANGE, Calif. - Day two for the Golden Eagles was full of challenges and high scoring opportunities. The Concordia women's water polo team went head-to-head with No. 11 Arizona State and Chapman University on Saturday morning.

No. 11 Arizona State came out of the gates swinging and outscored the Golden Eagles in every period. Concordia put up a good fight and did its best to slow the Sun Devils offense down. Despite the tough loss, the three Concordia goals were scored by Tess Henke, Andie Perreira, and Lily Ensley. The final score was CUI 3 – ASU 11.

The final game of the tournament against Chapman followed right after the first. CUI headed into the match with renewed vigor and dominated the Panthers with a whopping 17-6. Concordia saw scoring opportunities for ten of the Golden Eagles. With key assists, Andie Perreira and Tess Henke led the Golden Eagles with three goals each. Lily Ensley sealed the win for Concordia with a clear shot into the cage on a power play.

Concordia finished the tournament with an impressive record of 3-1 and boosted its overall season record to 8-10.

Next up for the Golden Eagles is the SDSU Aztec Invite, where CUI will face San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, and UC San Diego on March 8th and 9th!
