IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball team competed against No. 4 Grand Canyon on Thursday. GCU won in three sets with scores 25-16, 25-16, and 25-19.
Chris Morikawa and
Wolf Beeuwsaert came into the game and made an immediate impact on the court. Morikawa came into the third set and had four kills on eight attempts with no errors while digging up one at the bleachers to bring back into the court. Beeuwsaert went 3-for-4 where his kills went untouched by the Lopes.
Sophomore
Gage Doble led the Golden Eagles with nine kills and six digs.
Ties Cornelissen contributed with three kills and digs in the first two sets.
Christian Galoppo and
Makua Marumoto both had two kills a-piece with Marumoto scooping up four digs from the back row.
Maxwell McCullough had four kills out of the middle while setter
Yotam Briger had two kills and handed out 26 assists and six digs. Libero
Jacob Reilly dug up seven wearing the libero jersey.
The Golden Eagles will finish their series against No. 4 Grand Canyon Friday Mar. 22 at 7 p.m. before heading on the road to play against BYU for two games starting Mar. 29 at 6 p.m.
