IRVINE, Calif. – The CUI men's volleyball team finished their series against No. 5 Grand Canyon and rallied with them but ultimately fell short in three sets with scores 25-22, 25-22, and 25-20.
Both middles
Clement Osahon Jr. and
Maxwell McCullough were solid up at the net both offensively and defensively for the Golden Eagles. They each had four kills and a combined six block assists up at the net to stop the Lopes offense.
Freshman
Ties Cornelissen finished the match with 10 kills and two block assists while opposite hitter
Christian Galoppo had six kills and five digs while serving up an ace from the back line. Graduate student
Chris Morikawa came into the game and went 6-for-10 while hitting an impressive .500 in two sets.
Setter
Yotam Briger dished out 29 assists and had seven digs with
Johnny Anselmo was in the libero position for the night.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road as they take on No. 7 BYU in Provo, Utah with back-to-back days starting Friday Mar. 29 followed by Saturday Mar. 30 with start times at 6 p.m.
