Box Score 2 SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Both Concordia University Irvine tennis teams strung together 6-1 road victories on Tuesday during their trip up to Westmont.
It was ladies first and the Golden Eagles pounced on the doubles point to jump ahead 1-0.
All three pairs for CUI dominated, with
Emilie Lugon-Moulin/
Bryn Johnson and
Jessica Bear/
Alicia Da Re teaming up to win 6-0 in both their matches. Nationally-ranked No. 1 doubles pair
Sophie Rachor and
Tiffany Carrillo rolled as well to a 6-1 victory.
The top five singles spots also went to CUI led by Rachor at the No. 1 spot. Lugon-Moulin, Bear, Johnson and Da Re all earned a point as well - and all four of them won in two sets by counts of 6-2 or less.
The men took control of the match during singles play. Westmont won the doubles point, despite
Adam Kartzinel and
Lemiel Tairahoy winning at the No. 3 doubles spot by a count of 6-2.
But then it was all about the Golden Eagles.
Kartzinel also won at No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-4. He was joined by teammates
Mattis Le Montagner and
Max Renz who won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches in two sets.
Mario Aleksic cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles for Concordia while
Spencer Cinco was victorious at the No. 4 spot by a count of 7-5, 6-1.
Tairahoy also took care of business to give CUI the clean sweep of all six singles slots with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 rally to victory.
NOTE: The Wednesday home matches for both CUI tennis teams against Grand Valley State have been moved to Thursday, March 6 at the same times.
The women will start at 9 a.m. PT followed by the men's match at 1 p.m. PT
