SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Concordia women's tennis team closed out a busy week of play with a 2-1 record after battling Point Loma on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles nearly finished off the week a perfect 3-0 but lost a tight one by a count of 4-3 to the Sea Lions.
Alicia Da Re and
Jessica Bear won at No. 3 doubles and paired that result with
Sophie Rachor and
Tiffany Carrillo's success on the No. 1 court. Together that gave CUI the double point.
At the No. 2 singles spot,
Emilie Lugon-Moulin won in two sets for the fifth straight outing. Plus, fellow newcomer
Bryn Johnson posted her third straight win in singles play with a three-set victory at the No. 5 position.
However, PLNU overcame their guests in the other four singles matches to close it out. The clincher came at No. 1 singles.
The Golden Eagles were coming off back-to-back wins. This included
a 6-1 road win over Westmont in Santa Barbara and a home victory over Grand Valley State earlier this week.
Johnson clinched the win over the Lakers on Thursday with a three-set victory at the No. 4 position. CUI eked out the victory by taking the doubles point, followed by wins by Lugon-Moulin at No. 2 singles and Rachor at the No. 1 spot.
Concordia women's tennis is back in action this Monday, March 11 against Hawaii Pacific at home at 2 p.m. The men's teams face off beforehand starting at 10 a.m. on Concordia's campus.
