Golden Eagles Dominate Vs Thunderwolves

IRVINE, Calif. - The Golden Eagles flock returned to their home nest on Friday evening's competition against the visiting CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves.

Near the end of their season, CUI seemed extra fired up to play in front of their home crowd as they were on the road for nearly a month and a half. Seeing the Thunderwolves for the second time this season, the Golden Eagles put on another dominant display just as extravagant as the first matchup.

Nick Beeson was the total points leader for CUI, earning eight points on the match, scoring six goals while assisting on two others. Drew Buckley was the second leader scoring on the team, earning five goals and points in the game, dropping Thunderbird players, and finding open pockets in the defense.

While the offense was impressive for the Golden Eagles, the defense ultimately won games and championships. CUI was incredibly disruptive, causing 29 turnovers throughout the game and recovering 22 more ground balls than CSU Pueblo, all while winning 22 to 7 in faceoffs.

It was just an overall dominant display from the Golden Eagles, winning 21-7 for the final score. To catch the Golden Eagles play one last time at Golden Eagles Field on Sunday, April 14, 2024, to celebrate the seniors. CLICK HERE to view the entirety of the 2024 Men's Lacrosse Season!
